An Evening of Adventure 2016
Once again, we have an exciting line-up of inspirational speakers at this ever popular illustrated talk night. Famous adventurers and explorers such as Paul Braithwaite, Steve Hill MBE and Nicky Spinks will be amongst the speakers who will awaken the inner adventurer in you with their amazing stories of climbing the worlds highest peaks, trekking the frozen wastes of the arctic to breaking ultra-distance world records.
The talks will be held over two nights – Friday 16th & Saturday 17th September. Tickets sell out fast, so you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
Night One – Friday 16th.
Legendary fell runner and world record holder Nicky Spinks, will captivate, inspire and motivate you with her sensational stories of ultra-running endurance and her 10 year successful battle against cancer.
Steve Hill MBE, is a teacher, mentor and prolific charity fundraiser. Over the years he has undertaken a wealth of epic challenges to raise over £70,000 for various charities. With his stories of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, trekking to Everest Base Camp, running the Everest Marathon and trekking across the North Pole, Steve will enthral you with his motivational tales of adventure fundraising.
Andrew Tromans, is a local lad who has lived a life of outdoor adventure. A self-confessed mountain biking junky, Andy will captivate you with his stories of mountain biking endurance and bike-packing adventures across some of the country’s most beautiful and remote wilderness.

Night Two – Saturday 17th September
Paul ‘Tut’ Braithwaite: A Lifetime of Climbing Mountains.
This is a very rare opportunity to listen to local climbing legend, Paul Braithwaite who, among many other climbing endeavours, is best known for the instrumental part which he played in the successful British attempt to conquer the south-west face of Everest.
Paul will amaze you with his dramatic images and outstanding tales of climbing the worlds highest peaks, with the likes of Sir Chris Bonington, Doug Scott, Nick Estcourt, Dougal Haston and Don Whillans.
Richard Saunders MBE: Kathmandu: The long way round.
Richard Saunders left England to spend the summer teaching sailing in Spain and then ‘cycle around Europe’. It was 1979. In reality he returned three and a half years later after cycling eighteen thousand miles and the realisation of a teenage dream. Richard will amaze you with his stories about his world trip and the ongoing impact which remains with him today.
Adam Short: From Sewers to Sea.
Adam Short is an explorer and adventurer, who’s short film ‘From Sewers to Sea’ is sure to have you laughing as he embarks on a solo, grassroots, micro-adventure to paddle from the centre of Coventry’s subterranean sewer systems to reach the Severn estuary.
